Mandel Group completing First Place

Mandel Group said Monday that construction of the First Place condominium development is nearly complete, confirming its involvement in the project as the new developer.

As reported in The Business Journal April 11, Mandel was one of several local firms vying for the contract to manage the First Place development, which was forced into receivership after falling behind on loan payments. Developer Scott Fergus and his company, Key Bridge Group Inc., were developing the project at 106 W. Seeboth St. in Milwaukee.

Mandel Group of Milwaukee said it has been retained by Michael Polsky, court-appointed receiver, to guide completion of construction, marketing and sales of the remaining condominiums, and management of the resident association.

Mandel also confirmed key participants in the development team that has been assembled to complete First Place. Smocke & Associates Inc. of Milwaukee, previously retained by the receiver to monitor construction work in the building, will continue to oversee completion of construction. Garrison Partners, based in Chicago and with operations in the Milwaukee market, will direct marketing and sales activities for the units. All parties have been retained by the receiver to complete the project.
